The Ceramics of Italy joint stand has taken part for the first time in IDS 2011

Ceramics of Italy, the collective mark for the Italian ceramic industry, has taken part for the first time in the 13th IDS Interior Design Show in Toronto (Metro Toronto Convention Center) from 27 to 30 January in 2011.

The collective participation was organised by Confindustria Ceramica and Edi.Cer. in cooperation with ICE Toronto and the Ministry for Economic Development on the basis of the Sector Agreement with the strategic objective of North America.

Four large Italian companies have also exhibited at the collective Ceramics of Italy stand (stand no. 240): Appiani, Casalgrande Padana, FAP Ceramiche and Mirage Granito Ceramico.

Ceramics of Italy has also participated with the seminar “What’s New, What’s Next” on 28 January 2011 at 2.00 p.m. Journalist Edie Cohen from the prestigious magazine Interior Design has outlined the latest Italian ceramic tile trends (design, sizes, application technologies and sustainability), which she had the opportunity to observe during her recent trip to the world’s top ceramic exhibition Cersaie 2010. She was joined by Anna Kowalczyk, Lead Designer at the Canadian architecture practice CS&P who has outlined the latest projects carried through using Italian ceramic tiles.

IDS is the largest Canadian contemporary design exhibition, attracting an attendance of 47,000 design and media professionals. A total of 300 companies are exhibiting in a space of 175,000 square feet at what is considered not just an exhibition but an all-round design experience.

IDS is an excellent opportunity for Italian ceramic companies to meet the community of architects and designers in Canada, an important North American market that has not suffered the same kind of downturn as the US, as evidenced by the large number of architectural projects submitted to the Ceramics of Italy Design Competition and the award for the best Canadian importer/distributor presented by the Italian ceramic industry to Stone Tile International.
