Ceramics of Italy in Moscow for MosBuild

The customary spring appointment with the Russian market is back again this year. Now in its eighteenth edition, the international exhibition of building, covering materials and interior design MosBuild will be held from 2 to 13 April 2012 in the Expocentre in Moscow.

Organised by International Trade Exhibitions (ITE), the show is not only the largest and best known exhibition for the sector in Russia but also one of the most prestigious events at a European and world level. Its global outreach is demonstrated by the growing number of discerning and well-informed visitors made up of manufacturers, suppliers and clients from 48 different countries.

To further underscore its key role in the Russian building market, this year the event will be held entirely in the Expocentre in contrast to the previous practice of holding a section of the show in the Crocus exhibition centre. This showcase of products and systems for the building world will take up almost two weeks of the Moscow events calendar. From 2 to 5 April the exhibition will be devoted to the Design and Decor industry sectors (bathroom, ceramics and technical ceramics, doors and locks, flooring, wall décor, paints and coatings), while from 10 to 13 April the focus will shift to Building and Architecture (materials, plumbing, windows, lighting, hardware and tools, finishes, country living and stone).

In this new scenario, MosBuild confirms its role as a prestigious showcase of new trends and technologies and an international forum for strategic construction agreements. It also offers a unique opportunity to approach the dynamic Russian market and it is for this reason that the Italian ceramic industry has been taking part for the past decade.

To underscore the Italian participation, Ceramics of Italy will be present from 2 to 5 April with a new 100 square metre stand featuring a restyled hospitality area and info point for members and their foreign customers. The appealing aesthetics of the space reflect the tradition, quality, innovation and creativity of Italian ceramics.

Carpet, banners, signage and freestanding kiosks will further underscore the presence of Italian companies at the show.

The exhibition spaces located in Pavilion 2 Hall 3 and Hall 1 and Pavilion 8 Hall 2 will host around thirty Italian ceramic tile companies: Abk, Ariana, Atlas Concorde, Brennero, Caesar, Casalgrande Padana, Ceramica Sant’Agostino, Cerdisa, Cisa, Coem, Emilceramica, Del Conca, Fap, Flaviker, Florim, Gardenia Orchidea, Kale Italia, Keope, Kerama Marazzi, Litokol, Majorca, Ricchetti, Rondine, Serenissima, Settecento, Tagina and Vallelunga.

As always, one of the highlights of the exhibition will be the 5th edition of the Russian Distributor Award assigned to a major Russian partner that has excelled in its activities promoting Italian ceramics: the winner is Andrey Borisovich Kuleshov of Bazalt Keramika.

Another of the initiatives conducted by the association is a series of meetings with a select group of architecture practices and prominent figures from the world of real estate, who have been invited to the show to meet Italian business leaders according to a set calendar of events.

This Ceramics of Italy initiative is organised by Confindustria Ceramica in cooperation with the design and architecture magazines Elite and Architekturny Vestnik, which for the occasion are providing their publishing support for the Italian companies.

The presentation ceremony for the Confindustria Ceramica Russian Distributor Award was held on 4th April 2012 at the Ceramics of Italy institutional stand at MosBuild 2012.

Following his introduction, Armando Cafiero, director general of Confindustria Ceramica, gave the floor to Mario Moriconi, a member of the Association’s executive board and chairman of Tagina Ceramiche d’Arte, who noted that MosBuild is an “outstanding opportunity to meet the Russian market, a country where our exports have risen by around 20% in the past year, along with the several tens of millions of square metres of tiles produced in Russia by Italian-owned companies. These positive results owe much to the strong relationship between our companies and the distribution system, to the Italian ceramic industry’s ability to find aesthetic solutions that meet the tastes of Russian consumers, and to efforts to produce environmentally friendly ceramic materials.” Moriconi stressed the importance of the Italian ceramic industry’s knowledge, technology, ingenuity and innovation, but above all its extraordinary passion for producing ceramics. “These are all values that for several decades we have been promoting under the ‘Ceramics of Italy’ mark, which represents our country’s outstanding tradition in ceramic products and interior design,” he said.

Next to speak was Filippo Manuzzi, a member of the Award Jury and of the Promotional Activities and Trade Fairs Commission. “For the last five years the Italian ceramic producers’ association has been presenting this award to a Russian distributor that has excelled in its relations with our industry,” he said. “The Jury bases its decision on a number of requirements, the most important of which are fidelity to Italian products, fair business practices and an ability to promote the values of Italian products.”

The 5th Russian Distributor Award was won by Bazalt Keramika, a company founded in Moscow in 1996 with 4 showrooms, 2 operating companies, a 5,000 square metre warehouse and a staff of more than 100 people. The company has stood out for its ability to maintain excellent and stable commercial relations with more than 15 Italian ceramic companies, achieving 15% annual turnover growth.

Bazalt Keramika is a young company led by general manager Andrey Kuleshov, who after picking up the prestigious award expressed his gratitude to the entire Italian ceramic industry. “This award is an incentive for us to expand our knowledge and make even greater use of Italian ceramic tiles,” he commented. “Italy is the cradle of industrial ceramic tiles and has always been the main driver behind product innovations. Style, design and technical characteristics are the key features of products that are becoming increasingly popular amongst Russian consumers.”
