Date:January 26, 2017
Marazzi – world leader in ceramic floor and wall tile design and production – has signed the definitive agreement to acquire full ownership of Emilceramica, a long established ceramic company based in Fiorano Modenese.
The agreement was signed today in Sassuolo. The closing of the operation is expected at the approval of the Antitrust Authority.
Emilceramica is one of the most important companies in the Sassuolo ceramics district. Founded in 1961, it has grown steadily also through significant acquisitions and now operates mostly at the international level, through the brands Emilceramica, Provenza, Viva and Ergon. Emilceramica is present in more than 5,500 stores in over 70 countries around the world, especially in the North American market with four logistic centers and dedicated staff.
The company, that now has about 500 employees and two manufacturing plants in Italy, has implemented in recent years a reorganisation plan and new investments in innovation that has led to a major repositioning in the high-end market, reaching a turnover of more than EUR 150 million in 2015 with over than 90% of sales made abroad.
Marazzi shares with Emilceramica Group a number of its business values: extreme attention to product quality and design, focus on innovation, efficiency and environmental sustainability of production systems as well as emphasis on professional growth, employees’ safety and a positive relationship with the local territory.
“We are very pleased with this agreement” said Mauro Vandini, Marazzi CEO. “Together with Mohawk, three years ago we undertook a path of growth and major investments in the district and now with this operation we believe that our group will strengthen its leadership position and its ability to innovate on ceramic products.”
“Becoming part of Marazzi Group, one of the largest and most international ceramic companies, is certainly the best choice to give our company a future of development,” added Sergio Sassi, CEO of Emilceramica. “Marazzi found in Emilceramica a valuable partner in perfect synergy with its industrial and commercial strategies. Our team is ready and proud to join and be part of what today is undoubtedly the number one group in the world and to continue the successful growth plan implemented in recent years.”
