Ceramic Tiles of Italy: focus on the environment and the future at Ecobuild 2011

Ceramic Tiles of Italy is continuing its efforts to promote the excellence of Italian ceramics at an international level. This time the target is the British capital London, which from 1 to 3 March will be hosting Ecobuild 2011, the world’s biggest venue for sustainable design, construction and the built environment. In 2011 the show moves to the ExCel exhibition and conference centre at the heart of the Green Enterprise District in London’s Docklands.

A unique event in the United Kingdom with strong international resonance for the entire green building sector, this year it is hosting a Ceramic Tiles of Italy joint stand (stand S330 – Italian Pavilion) with a space of about 100 square metres and organised in cooperation with the Italian Chamber of Commerce and Industry for the UK. The stand will showcase eight top names in the Italian ceramic tile sector: Appiani, Casalgrande Padana, Ceramica Bardelli, Ceramica Sant’Agostino, Ceramiche Refin, Cooperativa Ceramica d’Imola, Fap Ceramiche and Palagio Engineering-Gruppo Vivaterra.

Conceived by architects Dante Donegani and Giovanni Lauda and built by A&M Production, alongside the eight company areas the stand will also feature two Ceramic Tiles of Italy institutional info desks to promote the unique quality and style of Italian ceramic tiles.

As part of the exhibition’s conference programme, a seminar entitled “Ceramic Tiles of Italy. The Green Way” will be held on 3 March 2011 at 10.30 a.m. in Room 8 in the South Gallery. Organised in cooperation with the Italian Chamber of Commerce and Industry for the UK, the seminar will discuss Italian ceramic tiles, the most innovative trends and sustainability.

Exhibiting at Ecobuild means taking part in the world’s biggest and most comprehensive showcase of sustainable design, construction and renewable energy. It means being present at the most important platform for the launch of new products and keeping abreast of the most pressing issues in the sector through stimulating and challenging seminars and conferences given by top speakers. The event is a wide-ranging showcase of high-quality innovative products in all fields of relevance to the sector: renewable energy and micro-generation, water management and efficiency, building services and management, external works, substructures, materials, professional services, finishing products and systems. But it also showcases novelty in terms of services, best techniques and the most advanced projects in the world of sustainable design, and offers an intensive training programme and inspirational interactive attractions for the public.

It is an innovative event that focuses on the environment and the future and aims to promote an awareness of sustainability amongst the general public. And its success is demonstrated by the figures: 1,300 suppliers, 2,011 exhibitors, more than 500 internationally acclaimed speakers, 60,000 square metres of exhibition space, more than 150 sessions organised in 14 rooms and attendance figures that have risen steadily from 1,500 visitors in 2005 to 41,000 in 2010.

No less important are the new feed-in tariffs which for the first time have become a government incentive in the energy consumption sector in the UK (the second biggest energy consumer in Europe), making the country particularly attractive to industry players in 2011.

And an event where attention to the environment and sustainability rub shoulders with cutting-edge design is of course a natural venue for Italian ceramic tiles, renowned for their tradition, innovation and creativity together with unique performance characteristics and design solutions. The Italian tile companies’ participation is backed by the Chamber of Commerce staff, who are helping to promote Italian companies and provide all-round operational and linguistic support.
